Teaching Rule #1 – Build relationships! I cannot stress this enough. Facilitating meaningful relationships is vital to your practice as an educator. Intentionally connecting with your students allows them to feel cared for and appreciated as individuals. Not only that, these student-teacher connections promote student engagement, academic growth, social and emotional well being, safety and belonging. All of that by simply getting to know our students - sounds like a great trade off to me!
